Zeeuws Investment Fund and InnovationQuarter have invested in the biotech company Toxys, located in Leiden, the Netherlands. Toxys is a spin-off from the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) and specialized in a new generation of innovative testing which quickly and reliably can identify the main carcinogenic properties of new substances.

Leiden-based biotechnology company Mimetas has received 1.6 million USD funding for development of an organ-on-a-chip model for neurotoxicity. The aim of the project is to improve existing neurotoxicity tests and to reduce experimentation on animals.
Agendia, Inc. and several European partners have received a $6.8 million European Commission grant to study targeted therapies for colorectal cancer (CRC). The grantees will test therapies matched to the molecular subtype of each patient’s tumor, to see if they are more effective than current therapies not keyed to a tumor’s subtype.
