I-JGZ: Digital innovations for a healthy youth

I-JGZ: Healthy youth through integrated and personalised digital innovations in preventive child health care (JGZ)

The preventive child health care (JGZ) is in transition to maintain the quality, accessibility and affordability of care. Primary aim is to strengthen the possibilities, involvement and problem-solving capacity of families (parent empowerment), through further flexibilisation and personalisation of the JGZ. The expectation is that I-JGZ (integrated and personalised digital innovations in the JGZ), will contribute to this transition.

To date, digital innovations in the JGZ are highly fragmented and functionalities are not interchangeable. There are numerous separate apps, portals and suppliers of digital healthcare files (DD JGZ). It is important to integrate existing digital innovations. This will contribute to the quality and accessibility of the JGZ, even in challenging periods, such as the corona crisis.

To achieve this goal, the Health Deal I-JGZ consortium partners are committed to a public-private partnership for an I-JGZ platform. This platform for parents includes an infrastructure which enables digital innovations of consortium partners to be modularly integrated. The following innovations will be integrated:

  • Parent portals and apps (e.g., GroeiGids app): monitoring growth and development of the child and access to information;
  • DIY Van Wiechen instructions: multimodal content-module for self-monitoring of child development;
  • The Smart Guideline module: tailored advice, based on JGZ-guidelines;
  • DD JGZ: access to JGZ data of the child for personalisation of the advice.

Several issues need to be researched to realise I-JGZ. These issues are at the level of development, the impact and the implementation. The consortium starts with high end partners. They expect and open the consortium for additional partners who are willing to invest under agreed conditions of consortium agreement.

The result is a platform for parents to seamlessly contact the JGZ with any questions via their eHealth services. The parties involved intend to include this I-JGZ platform in their operational processes.

Summary
There is a strong movement investing in the use of (big) data for higher quality, accessibility and sustainability of preventive child health care (JGZ). To contribute to this movement, the partners of the Health Deal I-JGZ consortium are developing a I-JGZ platform. The I-JGZ platform consists of various intelligent modules that process distributed data from various eHealth services, including digital dossiers JGZ and parent-modules.
