Health Innovation Netherlands (HI-NL) facilitates an early, targeted, tailor-made dialogue between innovators and all relevant stakeholders in the healthcare system, supporting and directing the development, evaluation, implementation, scaling up and reimbursement of safe, effective and efficient (health)care innovations for patients and citizens.

The Round Table service is one of HI-NL’s activities and provides multistakeholder consensus advice to innovators about the development path of their specific innovation, tailored to their innovation type and which pathway they may best use. This service is open to any innovator, national or international, developing or distributing any type of health(care) innovation (which are covered by MDR / IVDR) in any health sector (care, cure, public health and prevention). The process consists of three consecutive tailor made phases:

  1. The intake
  2. Extensive scoping & synthesis of the innovation and its targeted context and setting by a team of health(care) innovation experts (a so-called case team, matched to the innovation at hand) and
  3. The Round Table session with all relevant stakeholders (e.g. patient, medical specialist, health insurer, CE expert, policy makers etc.). In this last third phase, all relevant stakeholders in the healthcare domain that may play a role for the specific innovation are selected and brought together in the Round Table session to provide innovators with consensus advice about their innovation and necessary follow-up steps. The gathered knowledge from the scoping & synthesis phase together with the multistakeholder consensus advice is then compiled to a final comprehensive Innovation Guide and delivered to the innovator.

'Every entrepreneur should consider a HI-NL Round Table. As an innovator, you always talk to as many key players in your field as possible. Without such conversations, you don't know whether your product actually solves an observed problem. The HI-NL Round Table service facilitates this through a well-prepared session. All parties sit around the table at the same time and provide completely independent advice. I can only recommend others to do this as well.'

The National Healthcare Innovation Award (Nationale Zorginnovatieprijs) is a competition for entrepreneurs whose innovative product or service has been developed, tested and launched.

The event is a great place to meet important stakeholders. Winning the award results in a PR boost for your company, next to the €5.000-€10.000 prize money.

For: scale-up companies in the health sector

Once a year the Nationale Healthcare Innovation Award is granted to the most promising health scale-up.

Application for the National Healthcare Innovation Award is done via Zorginnovatie.nl. Following the pre-screening process, candidates are classified to one of the eight Zorginnovatie.nl-regions. Every region organises a preliminary, offering the participants regional exposure and after which a regional finalist is selected.

At the Health Valley Event, all finalists pitch their innovation in front of a jury consisting of experts in the field of health innovation. The expert jury decides who is granted the €10.000 jury award. Parallel, through voting, the winner of the €5.000 public award is chosen.

Both award winners are announced at the Health Valley Event, the place to be to meet the greatest variety of stakeholders involved in innovation, science and business in Life Sciences and Health.

'The National Healthcare Innovation Award offers entrepreneurs a fantastic stage with a lot of publicity and acceleration. Certainly, in a very slowly changing and at the same time competitive market winning the Health Innovation Awards makes that your product and your company stands out in the healthcare market.

The National Healthcare Innovation Award therefore is a great stage where great things happen. And the stage is surrounded with an audience that likes to watch cool things that happen on that stage. When winning the award your product and company becomes the main act on that stage you are literally placed in the spotlights. For me being on that stage is a tribute to the nurses who defined our success. In every hospital that uses Post-ICU, certificates are placed in family rooms to communicate that they are so proud to have won the National Healthcare Innovation Award.'
