The Netherlands organises next worldwide WHO conference against tabacco
In 2020 organiseert Nederland de volgende wereldwijde conferentie van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie tegen tabak. Het gaat om de negende editie van de zogenaamde Conference of the Parties (COP) van het WHO FCTC verdrag. Dat is vandaag bekendgemaakt in Genève tijdens de sluitingsceremonie van de achtste COP. Staatssecretaris Paul Blokhuis (VWS) heeft het initiatief genomen om de conferentie naar Nederland te halen en was op 1 oktober in Genève om de Nederlandse kandidatuur kracht bij te zetten.The Netherlands organises worldwide conference against antibiotica resistence
Samen met de Wereldgezondheidorganisatie (WHO) zal Nederland in april 2019 een wereldwijde ministeriële conferentie organiseren over de strijd tegen antibioticaresistentie. Dat heeft minister Bruno Bruins (Medische Zorg) bekend gemaakt tijdens de G20-bijeenkomst in Argentinië. Bij deze bijeenkomst maakte Bruins afspraken met zijn collega’s uit de grootste 20 economieën van de wereld over een gezamenlijke aanpak van gezondheidsvraagstukken. Mede door jarenlange inzet van Nederland, staat antibioticaresistentie bovenaan de internationale agenda.

SkylineDx granted €2.7M for development skin cancer test
The Dutch government grants SkylineDx, through a financial loan (“Innovatiekrediet”), €2.7 million for the development of a diagnostic skin cancer test. Based on genetic information from cancer cells, this skin cancer test predicts if a patient is at risk of having metastases in the lymph nodes.
