X-Heal Diagnostics winner of the 17th Venture Challenge edition
Today at the Dutch Biotech Event, Chrétien Herben, director LifeSciences@Work Accelerator, announced X-Heal Diagnostics as winning team of the 17th edition of the Venture Challenge. X-Heal Diagnostics has developed the X-halyzer technology, a patented diagnostic technology that allows specific detection of bacteria from exhaled air within one hour, directly enabling targeted treatment for patients with chronic lung diseases.

Bedrijfsleven haalt bijna kwart meer voordeel uit innovatieregeling EZ
Nederlandse ondernemers, waarvan 97 procent afkomstig uit het MKB, hebben vorig jaar 1,2 miljard euro voordeel gehaald uit de innovatieregeling WBSO (Wet Bevordering Speur- en Ontwikkelingswerk). Dit is een stijging van 22 procent ten opzichte van een jaar eerder. Dat blijkt uit de jaarrapportage die minister Kamp van Economische Zaken vandaag heeft gepubliceerd. Met de WBSO kunnen ondernemers meer onderzoek doen om vervolgens deze innovaties te ontwikkelen tot succesvolle producten en diensten.
Pluriomics BV partners with Pivot Park Screening Centre to offer ultra High Throughput Screening for Cardiovascular drug discovery services
Pluriomics and Pivot Park Screening Centre today announced a collaboration to improve Pluriomics’ cardiovascular drug discovery service offerings and to expand Pivot Park Screening Centre’s knowledge about new and innovative assay technologies used to accelerate drug discoveries. Giving Pluriomics access to the Screening Centre’s ultra High Throughput Screening (uHTS) capability, this collaboration will serve Pluriomics mission which is to contribute to the efficiency of the drug discovery and development process by reducing the development length, costs and late stage attrition of novel drug candidates.

TTW call: Novel Antibacterial Compounds and Therapies Antagonizing Resistance (NACTAR)
The Dutch Ministry of Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and NWO Domain TTW have jointly commissioned an ambitious research programme on the development of new antibiotics and alternatives to antibiotics. As a result, we present here the Call for Proposals focusing on 'Novel Antibacterial Compounds and Therapies Antagonizing Resistance' (NACTAR). The main goal of the programme is to facilitate research and development of new antimicrobial molecules and alternatives to antibiotics, which should become available for the healthcare system for a fair and affordable price.

New study finds wide variety in pharma companies’ cancer access programmes
The Access to Medicine Foundation has published the first analysis of pharmaceutical company actions to improve cancer care in the developing world. It finds that market leaders in oncology are addressing cancer care for the poor, with 129 separate initiatives up and running. Efforts are spread across cancer types and countries. Female cancers gain most attention.
