Oncode Institute Community Celebrates

On October 12th the Oncode community came together to celebrate. After years of anticipation, extensive consultations and preparations, Oncode Institute is getting started and is confident in the bright future that we all have together in outsmarting cancer and impacting lives.

Where is Oncode Institute now
Oncode Institute (former OncoXL) has secured their principal funding and once they have signed on institutions representing ⅔ of our principal investigators, funding will begin to flow. Minutes before the festive event on October 12th, Oncode Institute was delighted that NKI (The Netherlands Cancer Insitute) was the first institution to sign the affiliation agreement. Other institutions will quickly follow.

What’s next?
Oncode Institute will use the next couple of months to get up and running. Operating from their new location at the Jaarbeurs Innovation Mile (JIM) adjacent Utrecht Centraal station, they will assemble staff and resources to get things started. Oncode is scheduling orientation visits to each of the Partner Institutions so that they can meet with as many of the researchers as possible. Their top priority is to get the base research funding flowing to the researchers and building out the clinical proof-of-concept and equipment programmes. Oncode will be recruiting a valorisation team, developing their digital platform and start detail planning for their technology programmes. That way Oncode Institute will be ready to publicly launch the institute during their symposium on February 9th 2018 (please mark in your calendar).

Outsmarting cancer and impacting lives
Due to the funding Oncode Institute can foster scientific excellence and fund 560 researchers and 43 Oncode Investigators (PIs) from nine Partner Institutions. Collaboration between Oncode researchers is essential to improve existing ideas, conceive new ones and proceed to valorisation.

Oncode Institute thanks all the Oncode’s Funders, Partner Institutes and the Founding Scientists.
