Shape the future of data driven health care

A national consortium of universities is inviting you to join a public private partnership researching data driven health care systems of the future.

Increasingly, the success of healthcare is determined by the availability of data from sensors, image devices, patient records, scientific libraries, medical knowledge bases, social media, regulations, and data on business processes. These sources are massive, diverse, and interwoven, and today health care professionals are unable to utilize them to their full potential.

We will research the data science methodologies and systems that will underlie data driven health care systems of the future providing health care professionals the right information when and where they need it. The technical core team of the project is composed of the data science centers in Amsterdam (CWI, HvA, UvA, VU), Delft (TUD), Eindhoven (TU/e), and Twente (UT).

What will be discussed?
During the meeting researchers will brainstorm and explore collaboration with you on one or more of the following themes.

  1. Information Personalization: methods for taking the personal data of patients, combining it with the massive open data available on demographics, diseases, drugs etc. and provide doctors with the right information on the patients to determine an optimal treatment.
  2. Process Analytics: mining of large amounts of events that can be found in hospital information systems and combine them with knowledge from open data sources such as regulations and use all information to optimize health care processes while not jeopardizing the care for individual patients.
  3. Knowledge representation: methods for structuring the vast amounts of rapidly evolving openly available medical knowledge, for making sure that multiple open knowledge repositories can be combined, and for dealing with the rapid update frequencies of such knowledge repositories.
  4. Aggregated search engines: find methods to develop search engines for all kinds of unstructured and structured medical data including texts, images, and signals, all yielding a simple ranked list of results as output.
  5. Massive Data Infrastructure: connecting heterogeneous data and knowledge at architecture level to provide highly efficient and distributed access to complex and dynamically changing repositories.
  6. Integrating use cases: The use cases are bringing the various components together by identifying a set of challenges in the use of massive data sources in health care which requires most or all of the above components to be realized. These use cases will be developed in close collaboration with the medical end users participating in the project.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for any organisation interested in deepening their knowledge on ehealth and/or data science techniques. E.g. system and software providers, hospitals, patient federations, consultants and insurance companies.

What is in it for you?
Participating in the research consortium has several advantages. You will:

  • Define the use cases upon which state of the art research will be performed
  • Have direct access to and collaborate with the best researchers in the field
  • Be able to make individual arrangements with regards to Intellectual Property
