NWO Life is a unique annual congress covering all disciplines and scale levels in the Dutch Life Sciences, from femtometre to kilometre, from cell to planet. NWO Life stands for high quality science, inspiration, discussion, exploration, connection, networking and knowledge utilisation.
The event
NWO Life2022 takes place on 24 and 25 May 2022 at Hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond aan Zee. It has the overarching theme ‘Resilience’. Ines Thiele and Marten Scheffer are keynote speakers. NWO Life hosts 5 tracks. The tracks address the research that is performed within the life sciences at different scale levels. NWO is honoured to announce their invited speakers per track. In addition, they also welcome 2 Spinoza winners as invited speakers.

Resilience
The overarching theme for NWO Life2022 is ‘Resilience’. Broadly defined, resilience is the ability to adapt to difficult situations. Resilience relates to all biological scale levels: from cellular resilience – which is influenced by genetic factors – and resilience at the level of individual organisms to resilience of ecosystems. Moreover, it is currently a literally fitting theme, since society is recovering from the covid pandemic. After last year’s successful online edition, the aim is to organise an edition of NWO Life where we can welcome everyone live again at the venue!
What is NWO Life and who is invited?
Researchers at all scientific research institutes including the university medical centres in the Netherlands, in all career phases including master students, are warmly invited to join and contribute to the programme. People working in the industry, policy makers, and lectors and their master students at Universities of Applied Sciences (HBOs) are also invited to join and contribute.
Photo and visualization contest
Did you, or can you, take the stunning picture that captures (part of) the essence of your scientific work? A particular unique image that is a piece of art in itself? That is what we are looking for in the photo and visualization contest: Framing Resilience! Send in your entry by mail no later than 2 May 2022 (postponed deadline!) and if you are selected you will win your own artwork professionally printed on A0 format. On top of that, you will also be eligible for the audience award: a digital polaroid camera.

PhD students and postdocs: €100
Other participants: €150
Prices include catering and accommodation for one night. If you attend only one day, you pay half the price.
