From 16 to 19 July, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency is organising an economic mission that Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Minister of Medical Care and Sports Bruno Bruins, and water envoy Henk Ovink will take part in. This trade mission is being led by Hans de Boer, chairman of the Dutch employers’ confederation VNO-NCW. The Dutch delegation will travel to Boston to do business in life sciences and health, robotics, artificial intelligence, and climate resilience.
Boston
The state of Massachusetts with its capital Boston is the centre of research and innovation on the east coast of the US. Massachusetts has over 100 universities and colleges of which Harvard, MIT and Boston University are world renowned institutions. With its high concentration of graduates, leading research institutes and universities, Boston is the place to be for state-of-the-art technology and innovation. Its prosperous innovation climate has led to a 6% growth in GDP.
Sector focus
Dutch companies and knowledge institutes from these sectors can participate in this mission:
Life Sciences & Health (LSH)
Companies, knowledge institutes, start-ups and scale-ups focussing on biotechnology (disease detection and prediction, drug development, design and screening, personalised interventions). Digital healthcare and eHealth solutions are part of this mission too.
Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
The Boston mission is most applicable for organisations involved in smart industry fieldlabs, high-tech manufacturing industry, and companies and knowledge institutes that provide digital production processes for high-tech manufacturing. The fields of robotics and artificial intelligence are specifically included.
Climate Resilience
Companies and knowledge institutes with expertise in the field of:
- Water management (storm/hurricane water, urban water, water technology);
- (Urban) climate adaptation;
- High-tide water approach and water safety of coasts, rivers and cities.
Company programme
The Boston mission offers opportunities for Dutch companies and knowledge institutes to get to know the Boston area, renew existing contacts and create new ones. There will be enough opportunities for business encounters during the programme, such as seminars, company and government visits, and trade lunches/dinners. During the mission, collective network events will be organised to which we will invite relevant stakeholders based on your company profile.
