Working together on health innovation

Public-private partnerships (PPPs) bring together companies, research organizations, healthcare organizations and other stakeholders to accelerate research and innovation. By pooling knowledge, expertise and resources, innovativesolutions are developed to address societal challenges in the fields of prevention, diagnostics, treatment and care.

Health Holland brings these parties together and supports public-private partnerships through funding, program management and strategic partnerships.

By combining public and private investment, we create more scope for research andinnovation that contribute to better health and care. In this way, we strengthen the Dutch Life Sciences & Health (LSH) ecosystem and accelerate the journey from research to practice.

Programs

Funding Collaborations

Within our programs, companies, research organizations and regional partners collaborate on innovations that contribute to better health and care. The public-private consortia determine which research and innovation projects are eligible for PPP funding from Health Holland. The programs range in size from €500,000 to €5 million.

Trinitas DX

Het Trinitas DX PPS-programma richt zich op het ontwikkelen van innovatieve diagnostische oplossingen voor specifieke zorgvragen in de Nederlandse gezondheidszorg. Het hoofddoel is het verbeteren van diagnostiek om zo zorgkosten te verminderen. Dit wordt bereikt door het combineren van In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD), medische beeldvorming (IMG) en kunstmatige intelligentie (AI).

Tailored lifestyle

This program is dedicated to improving health and preventing chronic diseases by empowering people to embrace healthier habits and creating supportive environments. With innovative technologies and concepts and tailored personal and community strategies, it focuses on enhancing nutrition, physical activity, and well-being. By creating lasting improvements, it paves the way for a healthier, more inclusive future.

Solid Start

This program aims to improve health and wellbeing of (future) families in vulnerable circumstances, specifically targeting the first thousand days of life. It funds research and development of innovations in the field of AI and data science that contribute to a better lifestyle and living environment of these (expecting) families.

Reimagine Imaging

Reimagine Imaging brings researchers, healthcare providers, and industry together to develop more autonomous MRI and ultrasound technologies that enable faster, better medical diagnoses. By making imaging more accessible throughout the entire care chain, the program reduces pressure on healthcare staff, improves patient care, and helps make healthcare more sustainable.

RehabAI@Home

RehabAI@Home is a collaborative program that combines rehabilitation and movement sciences with artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship to support higher quality and more independent rehabilitation in the home setting. RehabAI@Home uses a demand-driven, patient-centred approach to realize user-friendly, affordable, and scalable AI-driven care technologies.

Regenerative Medicine Translational Synergy

Repairing or replacing diseased tissues and organs with the help of the body’s self-healing capacity, that is what Regenerative Medicine is about! This program develops Regenerative Medicine solutions for patients. Academia, health foundations and companies work together to translate knowledge into therapies and get these therapies ready for the market.

Projects

More than €2 billion invested in R&D

In recent years, we have (co-)funded more than 1,719 public-private R&D projects. These projects have emerged from programs and thematic funding rounds and focus on a wide range of themes within the LSH sector.  Furthermore, with €712 million in PPP subsidies, over €1.4 billion in additional investment in research and development has been realized.

Together, these investments represent more than €2 billion in R&D investment. Public-private partnerships thus not only increase the funds available for innovation, but also bring the right parties together to apply knowledge in practice more quickly.

Solid Start (Kansrijke Start)

Solid Start envisions a healthier and more equitable lifecourse for the next generations of citizens by offering newborns a promising start. The PPP believes that this is the solution to tackle the rising incidence of chronic and lifestyle-related diseases, and break the generational cycle of health disparities and socio-economic inequality.

Precision Medicine for More Oxygen (P4O2)

P4O2 aims to identify treatable traits and innovative personalised therapeutic strategies to prevent progression of early stage damage and reverse established damage by stimulating repair. It focusses on risk factors for developing lung disease in the exposome, mechanisms, biomarkers for early detection of lung damage, interventions, and new therapeutic targets.

ORANGE Health.NL

ORANGEHealth.NL is a Dutch Public Private Partnership of knowledge institutions, patients and their organisations, companies, oral healthcare professionals and public bodies. They will join forces and collaborate in a multi-year programme to tackle the most relevant (oral) health challenges we’re facing today.

Oncode Institute

To accelerate breakthrough discoveries and speed up their translation into new accessible diagnostics and treatments for cancer patients.

NeuroTech-NL

NeuroTech-NL uses technology to restore lost functions that accompany neurological disorders, and reduce the burdens on healthcare. Our vision is a world where the deaf can hear, the blind can see, paralyzed people can communicate, individuals with Parkinson's can move, and those with epilepsy can live without seizures.
