How we help

FFUND supports life sciences & health entrepreneurs in developing and financing their innovations, from early-stage development through market introduction. We assess funding needs and opportunities and advise on the optimal mix of grants, loans, and investment capital.

We assess the company’s investor readiness: how strong are its strategy, market proposition, business model, team, financial foundation, and development plan? Together, we determine which areas need to be strengthened to successfully secure funding.

Depending on your needs, we can help refine your business plan and pitch deck, strengthen the underlying market data and financial models, identify investors, and prepare pitches and investor meetings.

Our support ranges from independent advice and concrete funding roadmaps to intensive guidance in successfully securing funding.

FFUND is based in the Netherlands and supports innovative companies throughout the country and, outside the Innovation Broker Scheme, across Europe. Within the scheme, we support Dutch companies developing innovations for use in human healthcare.

Our international network is strong in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, diagnostics, and digital health, and extends to industrial biotechnology, agrifood, and sustainability. We work with startups, SMEs, research organizations, investors, other funding providers, and industrial and strategic partners.

Through this network, we connect entrepreneurs with relevant expertise and strategic partners and, in particular, with suitable national funding instruments and international investors.

We collaborate with healthcare organizations, research organizations, and regional development agencies. This gives you quick access to the partners needed to develop and validate your product or service.

How we help

For broader support needs related to the development of your company and innovation, we invite you to an intake for one of our pitch events, where you will pitch to our expert partners. The partners will provide feedback, share tips and introduce you to relevant contacts within their networks.

We then identify which partners can support you further. We follow up on these matches, and in the weeks after the meeting, you will meet one-on-one with the expert partners to explore potential collaboration.

If you decide to work with an expert, you can easily do so through our Custom Support Program for just €62.50 per hour.

How we can help

There is a promising candidate, but the path to the patient is never straightforward. Biotech entrepreneurs come to us with questions such as:

• Is the molecule developable, and what development plan and regulatory strategy does that require?
• Which package of CMC, tox and clinical studies will EMA or FDA expect, and which costs and timelines are associated with that?
• How is manufacturing scaled to GMP while keeping control of quality and compliance?
• Which CRO, CDMO or clinical site fits the programme, and how is that contractually secured?
• What evidence do investors and licensing partners expect?

Our support ranges from an informal exploratory conversation and a clearly scoped advisory assignment (gap analysis, due diligence, integrated development plan) to the targeted deployment of a senior expert team embedded within the entrepreneur's team.

Area of operation and network

We operate from Tilburg, with offices in Oss and Amsterdam. Our support, however, is not tied to a region. We work with entrepreneurs throughout the Netherlands, Europe and beyond, and have experience with procedures at national authorities, the EMA and the US FDA.

Through us, entrepreneurs gain access to:

• senior experts for the development plan or regulatory strategy;
• selection, contract negotiation and management of the CROs, C(D)MOs and analytical and toxicological laboratories executing the programme;
• clinical strategy towards a first-in-human and subsequent studies.

This means a question reaches the right party quickly: a CDMO that can actually make the drug substance and drug product, a toxicologist for a specific package, or an investor who understands the development stage.

How we help

You can either nominate an innovation broker yourself, or we can help you find and connect with the right person and/or organization. The innovation broker can support you with the activities listed below, for a maximum amount of €10,000 (including VAT). 50% of these costs will be reimbursed afterwards, up to a maximum of €5,000 per SME.

The innovation broker can provide support with:

• Developing a product, process, or service;
• Developing the value proposition and potential revenue models;
• Building a business case;
• Finding funding for further development;
• Obtaining certification for the development of medical technology;
• Making relevant connections within the network;
• Connecting you with the right (collaboration) partners, such as healthcare organizations, research organizations, and other companies.

Vanuit onze studio’s in Deventer en het Erasmus MC in Rotterdam werken we aan medische innovaties voor diverse medtech bedrijven in Europa. Het creatieve team van Panton bestaat uit meer dan 18 gepassioneerde ontwerpers en ontwikkelaars die ervoor gekozen hebben zich volledig te specialiseren in ontwerpen voor gezondheid en zorg. Hierdoor beschikt het team van Panton over brede kennis van (klinische) processen in ziekenhuizen en zorginstellingen.
