Healthy Living Environment
The PPP Healthy Living Environment (PPP HLE) is a Dutch collaboration between public and private partners working together to make and keep our cities healthy places to live, work, and play. Our goal is that by 2040, at least 50% of all urban (re)developments in the Netherlands include health and wellbeing as key priorities.
Where we live greatly influences our health. Factors like air quality, green spaces, and the way our cities are built can support or harm our physical and mental wellbeing. Since many of these factors can be improved, we see a big opportunity to prevent common diseases like diabetes, depression, and cancer through smarter design and planning.
We aim to bring together all available knowledge, tools, and partners to develop and test new solutions for healthier living environments. We also work to remove key barriers like lack of shared knowledge, poor cooperation between sectors, and outdated rules and financing systems.
By building strong partnerships and sharing what works, we want to create healthier, more inclusive, and future-proof urban environments across the Netherlands — for everyone, now and in the future.
