Smart data use to improve programming in the fight against Aids
Zoom is a platform for data-informed programming in combating the Aids epidemic. A first version is being developed by Aidsfonds in close cooperation with Leiden University and Zimmerman & Zimmerman. Zoom allows to retrieve up-to-date insights into the locations and groups where the HIV prevalence is the highest, to make informed choices about where and how we should work, and to better show the impact of our spending.
Aidsfonds and its partners will use this grant to conduct a validation study within our project Zoom. Through this validation study we aim to retrieve a better understanding of how the Zoom open data platform can be used to increase the effectiveness of financial resources invested in healthcare, and whether this platform can be used to direct future national and international (financial and project) investments. In particular, we will develop and integrate more sophisticated analytical capabilities into the platform.
This project stimulates collaboration between scientific research (university) - business life (technical profit organization) and social interest (NGO) and represents a relevant social challenge at the heart of the project. The validation study focuses initially on whether the platform will enable to target our programming, to invest our funding more effectively, and better show its impact in the fight against Aids. It can be broadened after a 'proof of concept'.
