Why Texas

Texas is emerging as a global hub for MedTech and digital health innovation, offering a supportive ecosystem ideal for Dutch LSH companies looking to expand. Texas is home to prestigious, world-class institutions – like Texas Medical Center, Houston Methodist, and MD Anderson Cancer Center – providing many opportunities for organizations to collaborate with leading healthcare organizations. Moreover, Texas has a thriving startup ecosystem, with supportive incubators, accelerators, and venture capitalists to invest in innovative healthcare technologies.

Texas Medical Center (TMC) specifically stands out as a leading life science ecosystem dedicated to advancing healthcare. TMC spans over 70 million square feet and has more than 120,000 employees. In 2023, TMC and Health Holland launched the TMC Netherlands BioBridge. This strategic partnership serves as a conduit for Dutch entrepreneurs, researchers, clinicians, and industry stakeholders, facilitating their access to the U.S. market and promoting knowledge exchange. In September 2026, the first cohort of ~12 Dutch companies participating in the TMC Netherland BioBridge accelerator programme will start. We will kick-off the acceleration program together with a joint opening event during the mission.

What to Expect?

The Netherlands Business Support Office (NBSO) in Houston, Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Miami, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and Task Force Health Care (TFHC) organize the LSH mission to Texas as part of the multiannual SMM LSH United States program

During this visit, various stakeholders in Dallas and Houston will be visited. The program is still under development but will include:

  • Preparatory workshop in the Netherlands on Thursday 10 September focussed on pitch training and perspectives from Texas
  • Site visits to private hospitals, research institutes, and important health networks & ecosystems
  • An introduction and deep dive into what TMC has to offer to accelerate the growth of Dutch organizations in the US market
  • Networking meetings
