GezondMeNu

Citizen Science and lifestyle-interventions

GezondMeNu (in translation something like: ‘taking care of health and wellbeing now’) is an initiative of community organisations, knowledge institutions, health and welfare organisations, to explore what works with lifestyle interventions and activities for health and wellbeing from the perspective of inhabitants themselves. You can think of activities like walking groups, service users groups by people and familymembers with dementia, bootcamps with immigrants, football tournaments with Muslima’s etcetera. Central in the project is the construction of a ‘appreciation system’ from the perspective of communities themselves.

This project is building an appreciation model for lifestyle activities and interventions, based on the perspective of community organisations. Ingredients could be factors like: this works for my health; this works for my community, this is what makes me happy; this is good for my social relations. In spring 2023 they will have tested the model, together with the citizen-researchers. They will then test the (digital model and website) in practice and online in at least 15 municipalities. In the summer of 2024 this project wants to have constructed a working online/offline model for appreciation of lifestyle activities from the perspective of community organisations.

Summary
There are a lot of formal evidence based lifestyle interventions in national databanks. Problem is that a lot of these interventions are evidence based, but they do not work. For instance due to lack of reach under targetgroups, outage under the target groups or a mismatch with cultural circumstances. In ‘GezondMeNu’ they are going to (re)search what works, who works and how it works from the perspective of community organisations with citizen-researchers. And they will develop an appreciation model for lifestyle activities from the perspective of community organisations. The goal is to unlock the data for community organisations ánd professional organisations to further develop and spread successful lifestyle interventions and activities.
