World’s first super-microsurgery operation with ‘robot hands’ at Maastricht UMC+

Plastic surgeons at Maastricht UMC+ have used a robotic device to surgically treat lymphedema in a patient. This is the world’s first super-microsurgical intervention with ‘robot hands’. The robotic device, created by Eindhoven company Microsure, enhances the surgeon’s precision, making this type of procedure easier to perform.

Dit blijkt uit de jaarlijkse, toonaangevende ranglijst van het Global Competitiveness Report die is opgesteld door het World Economic Forum.

Additional €250M for startups and scale ups

Scale-ups en start-ups krijgen een extra financiele ondersteuning van bijna € 250 miljoen. Zo krijgen snelgroeiende bedrijven hulp om hun activiteiten verder uit te bouwen. Dit maakte het ministerie van Economische Zaken bekend tijdens het Startup-fest in Amsterdam.

Donderdag 14 september heeft Vlaams minister Jo Vandeurzen, het nieuwe ziekenhuis in Maaseik naar ontwerp van de Jong Gortemaker Algra architecten en ingenieurs officieel geopend.

Anton Pijpers appointed new president of Utrecht University

With effect from 1 October, Professor Anton Pijpers (1958) will be the new president of the Executive Board of Utrecht University. He has already been vice-president since 2014. Pijpers will succeed Marjan Oudeman, who left the position of president in June.
