The Netherlands with record growth in patents granted by the European Patent Office

- Patents granted to Dutch companies by the European Patent Office (EPO) grew by 39.8% in 2016 over the previous year to 2 784, a new record number and the strongest growth in 10 years (Fig.: Growth of Dutch patents granted at the EPO). In terms of numbers of patent applications filed with the EPO (i.e. dossiers which are submitted by an inventor or business to be examined by the EPO for compliance with the legal criteria) the Netherlands was no. 4 in Europe and No. 7 worldwide last year, despite a drop in Dutch patent applications of 3.6% compared to 2015.

NADP takes the next step towards new antibiotics and alternatives

- Within the Netherlands Antibiotic Development Platform (NADP), knowledge institutions and the business community will work together to develop new antibiotics and alternatives. The core mission of NADP is to bring companies and research groups together to accelerate research into the development of new antibiotics and alternatives to antibiotics.

Polyganics’ study interim data shows pain reduction

- Polyganics, a privately held medical technology company, announced that interim results show a sharp improvement in pain reduction observed across patients currently enrolled within the “STOP NEUROMA” study.

- Emmo Meijer is per 1 april 2017 het nieuwe boegbeeld van de Topsector Chemie. Met deze benoeming door minister Kamp van Economische Zaken volgt hij Gerard van Harten op, die deze positie vanaf 1 september 2012 bekleedde.
