VarmX raises € 12.5 million to develop a treatment for severe bleeding in patients using anti-coagulants
VarmX, a Leiden based biotech company focusing on the development of therapies in the field of hemostasis and thrombosis, announced the closing of a Series A financing round of € 7.5 million. The round was led by the existing shareholder BioGeneration Ventures (BGV) and regional economic development company InnovationQuarter also invested. Uniiq and Leiden University are also shareholders through conversion of their start-up loan to the company. The equity financing is supplemented by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) with an Innovation Credit of € 5.0 million to a total of € 12.5 million.GROZ: Joining forces for a fit society

GROZ seeks to realise a new balance in our healthcare system and is a national collaboration in the area of the societal challenge Health and Care. TNO and LUMC start Dutch innovationcenter to address lifestyle changes
Op 3 juli ondertekenen TNO en LUMC de programmaovereenkomst voor het Nederlands Innovatiecentrum voor Leefstijlgeneeskunde (NILG). Vanuit de grondgedachte dat verandering van leefstijl een van de belangrijkste bouwstenen is in de genezende zorg van morgen, willen TNO en LUMC bijdragen aan de omslag van ziekte en zorg, naar gezondheid en gedrag. Een gezonde leefstijl kan al voldoende zijn om te genezen van veelvoorkomende leefstijlziektes zoals hart- en vaatziekten of diabetes type 2. Het Diabetes Fonds is de eerste partner van het innovatiecentrum en kent een bedrag toe van 350.000 euro.A new treatment against chronic hepatitis C

Hybridize: Winner of the Venture Challenge Spring 2018
Maarseveen, The Netherlands, 29 June 2018 – Today at the Dutch Biotech Event, Chrétien Herben, director of the LifeSciences@Work Accelerator, announced Hybridize as winning team of the 19th edition of the Venture Challenge. The LUMC-based start up Hybridize has developed a cost-effective proprietary therapeutic compound that can be intravenously administered to protect the kidney from BK virus-mediated damage while maintaining full immunosuppression.
