Tijdens een speciale bijeenkomst in Nieuwspoort presenteerde Health~Holland het bidbook voor de Nederlandse life sciences sector. Tweede Kamerleden Leendert de Lange en Jessica van Eijs namen het nieuwe exemplaar in ontvangst. Dagvoorzitter Hans Schikan vatte de ambitie van de sector mooi samen: ‘We hebben alles in huis om net zo toonaangevend te worden als Boston op het gebied van geneesmiddelenontwikkeling.’

RegMed XB accelerates the development of therapies for four chronic diseases

On 15 November, a Letter of Commitment was signed in Utrecht by the partners of RegMed XB, an initiative in regenerative medicine. These partners – health foundations, national and regional authorities from Flanders and the Netherlands, research institutes and medical centers – confirm their (financial) commitment in a plan to develop affordable therapies for four chronic diseases.

European Organ-On-Chip society launched

The new European Organ-on-Chip Society (EUROoCS) was officially launched at the third International Organ-on-Chip Symposium, held on 8 and 9 November 2018 at the University of Technology in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The Society will encourage development and coordination of Organ-on-Chip research in Europe in support of better health for all.

Visie, vertrouwen en voldoende digitale vaardigheden kunnen bijdragen aan een versnelling in het gebruik van e-health. Dit blijkt uit de zesde editie van de eHealth-monitor van Nictiz en het Nivel: E-health in verschillende snelheden. De eHealth-monitor wordt op 8 november aangeboden aan het ministerie van VWS.

Van 20 t/m 28 oktober 2018 werd de Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven georganiseerd. Het Stimuleringsfonds organiseerde twee bijeenkomsten op het gebied van zorg, en was met ‘Designing a Community of Care’ aanwezig als onderdeel van de succesvolle tentoonstelling ‘Chronische gezondheid' in de Embassy of Health.

Tijdens de Vlaams-Nederlandse politieke topontmoeting op 5 november in Middelburg is een Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ondertekend door staatssecretaris Mona Keijzer van het ministerie van Economische Zaken en Klimaat (EZK) en Secretaris-generaal Johan Hanssens namens Minister Muyters van het Vlaamse departement van Economie, Wetenschap en Innovatie (EWI) op het gebied van Personalised Medicine. Hiermee wordt samenwerking tussen de Lage Landen op dit thema versterkt voor de komende vijf jaar.

New epilepsy warning device could save thousands of lives

A new high-tech bracelet, developed by scientists from the Netherlands detects 85 percent of all severe night-time epilepsy seizures. That is a much better score than any other technology currently available. The researchers involved think that this bracelet can reduce the worldwide number of unexpected night-time fatalities in epilepsy patients.
