Micreos raises €30 million for endolysin technology set to replace antibiotics
Dutch biotechnology company Micreos announced it has secured €30 million in funding to accelerate the development of its endolysin technology, set to replace antibiotics. The scientists received funding for these projects from the Partnership programme of NWO Domain Applied and Engineering Sciences and Danone Nutricia Research. Carmen van Vilsteren new chair Top Sector Life Sciences & Health
On 1 April 2019, Carmen van Vilsteren from Eindhoven University of Technology became the new chair of Top Sector Life Sciences & Health. Van Vilsteren was appointed by State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, Mona Keijzer, and takes over from acting chair Hans Schikan. Thanks to her extensive knowledge and experience in science and business together with her entrepreneurial spirit, Van Vilsteren is eminently suitable to represent the Top Sector as its public face.
Government continues to focus on public private partnerships in research
Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven (OCW) zet haar beleid voort om strategische publiek-private partnerships in het onderzoek te stimuleren. “Langdurige samenwerking tussen universiteiten en bedrijven biedt kansen voor zowel de wetenschap als het bedrijfsleven en de regio”, schrijft ze in een brief aan de Tweede Kamer.
