Virus outbreaks like these ask for an optimisation of data management and data reuse from which we all can benefit during future outbreaks too. Access to the immensely valuable data of past and current epidemics is not always equally accessible for different affected populations and countries.
MSD Announces Spin-off with ‘New’ Name Organon
The U.S. headquarters of pharmaceutical company MSD announces a spinoff for Women’s Health called Organon. MSD may also separate into two independent companies in the Netherlands: MSD and Organon & Co. so they can react even more quickly to specific patient needs and developments in the market after the spinoff. This development is good for the pharma landscape in the Netherlands.
The world's first matchmaking tool for scientists and industry
Techleap.nl, the Dutch universities and TNO, today launched the ScienceFinder. The database, built-in collaboration with IDfuse, has around 422,224 publications, 120,797 projects and 364 academic startups, making scientific research and academic networks accessible to partners from the business community and government. The database is the first of its kind worldwide and a joint initiative of Techleap.nl, the four Technical Universities (Delft, Eindhoven, Twente and Wageningen), TNO, NWO-TTW and the VSNU with support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate.

Call open! Humane Meetmodellen 2.0: Voor gezondheidsonderzoek naar ziekte en preventie
NWO-domein Toegepaste en Technische Wetenschappen (TTW), de Samenwerkende Gezondheidsfondsen (SGF), ZonMw en Topsector Life Sciences & Health (LSH; Health~Holland) stellen gezamenlijk 5,55 miljoen euro beschikbaar voor de ontwikkeling en validatie van humane meetmodellen. Binnen het onderzoeksprogramma wordt via publiek-private samenwerkingen bijgedragen aan effectiever gezondheidsonderzoek voor de mens dat minder afhankelijk wordt van proefdieronderzoek.
Two New ROMs in Development
Nederland is straks twee nieuwe regionale ontwikkelingsmaatschappijen (ROM’s) rijker. Staatssecretaris Mona Keijzer van het ministerie van EZK maakte op 20 februari bekend dat er in Utrecht en Flevoland ook ROM’s zullen worden opgezet. Hierdoor ontstaat een stelsel dat heel Nederland dekt.

Zorg voor innoveren biedt naast adviesondersteuning nu ook een subsidie aan voor zorginnovatoren die hun innovatie willen implementeren en opschalen. Met deze nieuwe subsidieregeling, genaamd implementatie- en opschalingscoaching, kan een externe coach worden ingehuurd die zorginnovatoren adviseert over implementatie- en opschalingsvraagstukken. Doel hiervan is om innovaties beter en sneller te laten landen in de zorg.
